Tavien Feaster is still the fastest man in the state.
\nJust like he did as a sophomore, Feaster swept the 4A 100- and 200-meter titles over the weekend.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s definitely a great goal and great accomplishment,\u201d Feaster told TheClemsonInsider on Sunday afternoon.
\n\u201cI just wanted to keep pushing myself. Just really, it\u2019s motivation each year to defend my title and to do what I do best.\u201d
\nCommitted to Clemson since February, the Spartanburg High School running back posted times of 10.42 and 21.11.
\n\u201cThose were outstanding numbers that I posted yesterday,\u201d Feaster said. \u201cI was really focused yesterday and I just did what I had to do, to mark myself in the record books and just be a state champion again.\u201d
\nClemson offensive coordinators Tony Elliott and Jeff Scott watched Feaster run at Spring Valley High School on Saturday. Each spoke with Feaster after the event.
\n\u201cThey just told me great job,\u201d Feaster said.
\nFeaster will now turn his focus to his final season of high school football.
\n\u201cTime has flown by. Yesterday, I was just in the ninth-grade getting ready for my first high school practice,\u201d he said. \u201cBasically, I\u2019m glad that I can move on and play division one football and track and field.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s a sad feeling, because the guys you grew up with, your paths are separating for the rest of your life. But I\u2019m going to keep in touch with those guys.\u201d
\nWhen it comes to his future, Feaster remains firm with the decision he made just over three months ago.
\n\u201cAll schools are telling me I can play both (football and track), but really, right now, my mind is set on Clemson,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
