The announcement was made early on Wednesday, sources told <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tigernet.com\/update\/player\/Cole-Stoudt-released-Chargers-19407?ref=front\">Tigernet<\/a>. Stoudt was offered a chance from the San Diego Chargers organization just days after the draft, but the franchise chose to release him after a few weeks of rookie mini-camp.<\/p>\n<div class=\"recent_box recent_posts c19\">\n<h4>More from <strong>Rubbing the Rock<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<p>After parting ways with Stoudt, The Chargers also signed quarter back Chase Rettig from Boston College. Rettig was a four-year starter for the Eagles and threw for <a href=\"http:\/\/profootballtalk.nbcsports.com\/2015\/05\/20\/chargers-sign-qb-chase-rettig\/\">3,065 yards<\/a> his Junior season. He spent last year with the Green Bay Packers organization before being waived in August.<\/p>\n<p>Here is Cole Stoudt\u2019s official <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clemsontigers.com\/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=205529368\">Clemson bio<\/a>:<\/p>\n<div class=\"blockquote\"><em>Served as the backup quarterback behind <a class=\"biolink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clemsontigers.com\/ViewArticle.dbml?&amp;ATCLID=205529382&amp;DB_OEM_ID=28500\">Tajh Boyd<\/a> from 2011-13 and started the majority of games in 2014 \u2026 was 277-421 passing for 2,634 yards and 17 touchdowns in 911 snaps over 35 games (eight starts) in his career \u2026 completed 65.8 percent of his passes and had a 126.5 pass efficiency rating \u2026 first in school history in completion percentage, third in interception avoidance (2.61) and ninth in passing efficiency \u2026 had 200 yards and three touchdowns on 98 carries.<\/em><\/div>\n<p>Stoudt had what was possibly his best outing in his career when he led Clemson to a 40-6 victory over the number-24 ranked Oklahoma Sooners. Stoudt threw for 319 yards and three touchdown passes, as well as a rushing touchdown in his last game as a Tiger. He was named the Russell Athletic Bowl Most Valuable Player and that performance alone may be what gave him the chance at the next level.<\/p>\n<p>Stoudt may get another opportunity with a different organization or he may choose to play in a \u201cdevelopment league,\u201d or he may choose to end his football career and begin to look for other opportunities.
