The Tar Heels got out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning after the Tigers committed a two-out inning-extending error led to a three-run home run. Sign up today.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Tigers attempted to make a late rally in the sixth inning, when they score two runs, but could never get the critical hits needed to truly mount any type of comeback. Clemson cut the lead in half when Weston Wilson hit an RBI single in the eighth, but could not get anything else going and that\u2019s where the game ended, with a final score of 6-3. The Tigers committed a total of four errors in the field, which led to several runs for the Tar Heels.<\/p>\n<div class=\"blockquote\">\u201cThey took advantage of the opportunities we gave them in the third and fourth inning,\u201d said head coach <a id=\"biolink_2\" class=\"biolink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clemsontigers.com\/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=934914&amp;ATCLID=205530255&amp;DB_OEM_ID=28500\">Jack Leggett<\/a>. \u201cAnd they made their hits count. They played well and a little better than we did, via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clemsontigers.com\/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=934914&amp;DB_LANG=C&amp;DB_OEM_ID=28500&amp;ATCLID=210094193\">Clemson Athletic Communications<\/a>. \u201cWe were a little shaky defensively and gave them too many opportunities, and a good team will take advantage of it. But our guys battled out there. We got ourselves back in a situation where we had some opportunities at the end.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"recent_box recent_posts c19\">\n<h4>More from <strong>Rubbing the Rock<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<p>Clemson will need several teams to lose in order to have a chance at an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament. When the Tigers are on their game, they can play with some of the best in the country.
