Today, on Memorial Day, we salute all of our veterans and honor those who fought for our country, as well as remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Today is a special day, especially if you are a Clemson Tiger fan. Many Tigers and parts of the Clemson family have served in our military in order to keep us safe. Clemson, being a military school at one point, is even more so involved in the honor of this day and what it means to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, laying down their lives for their friends in the battlefield and for their country.<\/p>\n

Today on Rubbing the Rock, we want to thank any veterans that may be reading our work and salute you. Thank you for the sacrifice you have made to our country and for keeping us safe. We also would like to honor and remember those that died on the battlefield so that we can enjoy the freedoms we so easily take for granted on a daily basis. Lastly, we would like to thank all of the family members of those that have served. We may have faults as a nation, but we are America. We are proud of our active military and our veterans. Thank you for the sacrifice you have made. As the saying goes, \u201cAll gave some, some gave all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Colonel Sandy Edge, Clemson Class of 1972 said it best,<\/p>\n

\u201cThe beauty and the true meaning of Military Appreciation Day, it\u2019s a time for us to come together, 80,o00 strong as Clemson Tigers, to sit back, take a deep breathe and reflect. Chances are many people in that 80,000 had someone who served. And to truly take time, for just a moment, to think how blessed we are and the sacrifices that so many have given so that we may serve in any way possible, what a great opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s take a minute today to thank our veterans and pray for those who are still serving and for the families who have lost loved ones. Go Tigers!<\/p>\n
