{"id":1375,"date":"2015-05-26T09:38:19","date_gmt":"2015-05-26T13:38:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thetigerfanforum.com\/news\/2015\/05\/26\/the-inside-word-defensive-end\/"},"modified":"2015-05-26T09:38:19","modified_gmt":"2015-05-26T13:38:19","slug":"the-inside-word-defensive-end","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thetigerfanforum.com\/news\/2015\/05\/26\/the-inside-word-defensive-end\/","title":{"rendered":"The Inside Word: Defensive End"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the loss of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/247sports.com\/Player\/Ebenezer-Ogundeko-18350\">Ebenezer Ogundeko<\/a><\/strong> and multiple personnel losses off of last season&#8217;s No. 1-ranked defense, defensive end is a position to keep an eye on at Clemson in 2015.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"320\" src=\"http:\/\/media.247sports.com\/Uploads\/Assets\/682\/525\/6_3525682.jpg\" width=\"620\" \/>Kevin Dodd is expected to start at strongside defensive end for Clemson in 2015. <span class=\"meta\">(Photo: Cory Fravel, 247Sports)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to contacts within the Tigers program, here&#8217;s how it&#8217;s expected to shake out from a depth chart standpoint and a few inside tidbits on the position.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Depth Chart<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Strongside DE<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/247sports.com\/Player\/Kevin-Dodd-7604\">Kevin Dodd<\/a><\/strong>, Jr.<br \/><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/247sports.com\/Player\/Martin-Aiken-449\">Martin Aiken<\/a><\/strong>, Jr.<br \/>Austin Bryant, Fr.<\/p>\n<p>Weakside DE<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/247sports.com\/Player\/Shaq-Lawson-7541\">Shaq Lawson<\/a><\/strong>, Soph.<br \/>Richard Yeargin, RFr.<br \/><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/247sports.com\/Player\/Chris-Register-21206\">Chris Register<\/a><\/strong>, RFr.<br \/>Clelin Ferrell, Fr.<br \/>LaSamuel Davis, Fr.<\/p>\n<p>-With Ogundeko leaving, the Clemson staff feels it is going to have to play young guys early &#8211; that means possibly Christian Wilkins (as a defensive tackle), Ferrell, Bryant and Yeargin (not Register) behind solid two starters &#8211; Lawson and Dodd &#8211; and Aiken.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Incoming<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>-On the recruiting front, Clemson&#8217;s staff is planning on getting four-star defensive end <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/247sports.com\/Player\/Xavier-Kelly-77402\">Xavier Kelly<\/a><\/strong> on campus this summer.
