Today\u2019s jumble of stories features, first a look into the lens of the RTR Spotlight as we analyze Clemson wide receiver Artavis Scott. Also, some sad news hit Tigertown yesterday as we heard of the passing of legendary basketball coach Bill Foster. Lastly, an update on Coach Swinney\u2019s statement on the Palmetto Family Council.<\/p>\n

RTR Spotlight: Artavis Scott<\/a> \u2014 Andrew Boardwine, RTR<\/p>\n

Throughout the summer, Rubbing the Rock will be taking a look at some of the players on the Clemson Tiger roster and examining their role as to how they will affect the team in this upcoming season. Clemson brings back a number of star-studded athletes and will have the chance to compete for the 2015 ACC Championship and the College Football Playoffs. The Tigers have some incredible talent and ability, with some great personalities and confidence to compete with some of the best in the nation. Today, the Rubbing the Rock Spotlight will be taking look at Artavis Scott.<\/p>\n

Clemson, S.C.\u2013Bill Foster, 79, \u00a0who guided Clemson to the Elite Eight of the 1980 NCAA Tournament in the school\u2019s first NCAA invitation, passed away on Wednesday afternoon in Charlotte, N.C. after a long battle with Parkinson\u2019s Disease.\u00a0The native of Hemingway, S.C. is the only coach to serve as the head coach of three current Atlantic Coast Conference institutions (Clemson, Miami and Virginia Tech) and is one of the few coaches in NCAA history to have multiple 20-win seasons at four different schools.<\/p>\n

Swinney releases statement on Palmetto Family Council<\/a> \u2014 Press Release<\/p>\n

\u201cI was recently selected by the Palmetto Family Council, an organization with which I have no association, as their \u201cSouth Carolina Family Champion of 2015\u201d and was invited to receive this recognition at an event sponsored by the group on June 2. I had no idea that I was being invited into a political controversy. It was my understanding that the nomination and selection for this award was based on the work done by our All In Foundation and the difference it is making in our community. My acceptance of this award was to be on behalf of all the volunteers that make our foundation a success. The work of our foundation is intended to build a better community and be a positive influence.<\/p>\n<\/article>\n
