On Wednesday night, Clemson defensive backs coach Mike Reed offered 2016 safety Spencer Perry.
\nThe 6-foot-3, 200-pound three-star safety has been committed to Florida since March, but he\u2019s still considering a number of big-time programs, including Auburn, Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame.
\nA little less than 24 hours before he spoke with TheClemsonInsider, Perry was on the phone with Reed.
\n\u201cThey like that I have the size to play right away,\u201d Perry said. \u201cThey like the way I move and how I play, as far as me being physical. I\u2019m able to make tackles and play the ball.
\n\u201cCoach talked to me about what he expects out of his players and different things like that.\u201d
\nOriginally from Auburn High School in Alabama, Perry made the move to IMG in January. Two of his teammates, T.J. Chase and Rahshaun \u2018Shaq\u2019 Smith, committed to Clemson earlier this year.
\nThey\u2019re actively recruiting him to Clemson.
\n\u201cThey talk to me every day about it,\u201d Perry said.
\nListed by Rivals as three-star and ranked as the No. 28 safety in the class of 2016, Perry has taken notice Clemson\u2019s rise over the last several years.
\n\u201cClemson has been good for a while. They have a pretty good chance at winning it all this year,\u201d he said. \u201cThey\u2019ve got Deshaun Watson, he\u2019s from Gainesville, a Georgia boy. I know they\u2019ve got good talent at the receiver. They\u2019ve got
\nJayron Kearse back there playing safety, so they\u2019ve got some players that can make some plays. They\u2019re going to have a good year this year.\u201d
\nPerry is going to join a group from IMG and visit Clemson this summer. He also plans to see Notre Dame, Michigan and Ohio State.
\n\u201cI might go to Vanderbilt, I\u2019m not sure. I\u2019ve got to check with the Florida coaches and see what they say about that,\u201d he said, \u201cBut that\u2019s my plans so far.\u201d
\nAs a junior at Auburn, Perry had 58 tackles, three pass breakups, one interception and a forced fumble.<\/p>\n
