Clemson baseball pitcher Clate Schmidt announced yesterday that he was diagnosed with nodular sclerosing lymphoma.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

For those that haven\u2019t heard yet, yesterday, Clemson baseball pitcher Clate Schmidt announced via his twitter account that he had been diagnosed with nodular sclerosing lymphoma.<\/p>\n

Yesterday I was diagnosed with nodular sclerosing lymphoma. It\u2019s just another path that God has sent me down that we didn\u2019t plan on.<\/p>\n

After the announcement, many parts of the Clemson family as well as people from other baseball programs, the MLB, and many others reached out to offer their support to the Schmidt family as they go through this tough time.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s something that they caught early and it\u2019s treatable with chemo and therapy. We are gonna be surrounded by the best of the best.<\/p>\n

Luckily, the doctors caught it early and it will be treatable. Schmidt has been a blessing to the Clemson family since he arrived on campus in 2013. He has a great competitive attitude and is one of the leaders by speech and example on the Clemson baseball team.<\/p>\n

Here is Schmidt\u2019s official Clemson bio<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Righthander who was a weekend starter most of the 2013 season and was a long reliever and weekday starter in 2014 \u2026 in 121.2 innings pitched over 36 appearances (19 starts) and two seasons, he has an 8-11 record and a 4.44 ERA while allowing 147 hits (.301 opponents\u2019 batting average), three homers and 54 walks with 78 strikeouts.<\/p>\n

We, here at Rubbing the Rock, want to express our full support and love for Clate Schmidt and his family. No one knows the reason you were given this task to overcome, but God has a greater plan for you and this will make you stronger and will use you to help others.<\/p>\n

Your Clemson family will be with you through the process as you fight this disease and we would encourage you, RTR community, to be praying for Clate Schmidt and his family and offer your encouragement as they begin this battle.
