Clemson co-offensive coordinator Tony Elliott has successfully recruited the Clemson area since coming on board as an assistant with the Tigers in 2011.
\nLast month, Elliott sent out an offer to Hillsborough High School four-star defensive end Zachary Carter.
\n\u201cThat Clemson offer is big-time for me,\u201d Carter said, during an interview with TheClemsonInsider.com.
\n\u201cClemson is big-time to me because I like the school a lot,\u201d he said. \u201cI watched them a lot growing up and I know that they\u2019re a good program.\u201d
\nCarter added, \u201cI think they\u2019ve been up there competing with the best of the best. They\u2019re one of the best of the best.\u201d
\nElliott has been in contact with Carter.
\n\u201cCoach Elliott, he tells me that Clemson is about more than just building great football players, they\u2019re about character, too,\u201d Carter said. \u201c(Elliott) said that a lot of the guys that get offers from Clemson, they\u2019re not just good football players, they\u2019re good guys in the community also.\u201d
\nAs a sophomore, Carter had 74 tackles, 6.5 sacks and four pass breakups.<\/p>\n
