Clemson Baseball: Possible Coaching Replacements<\/a> \u2014 Andrew Boardwine, RTR<\/p>\n

The Clemson baseball program will have to make a decision on a replacement Head Coach in the upcoming weeks, a task they have not had to do for over two decades. As a matter of fact, Clemson has only had two coaches since the year 1958<\/a> when they hired Coach Bill Wilhelm. That is a total of 57 years combined Coach Wilhelm and Leggett have coached the Clemson baseball team.<\/p>\n

Most of us do not even know what a baseball coaching search looks like, but let\u2019s take a look at some possible replacements for Coach Leggett that would be tangible and, hopefully, successful hires by the Clemson Athletic Department.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Camp Observations: Day 1, Session 2<\/a> \u2014 David Hood, Tigernet<\/p>\n

CLEMSON \u2013 The steamy conditions that highlighted the afternoon session of Dabo Swinney<\/a>\u2019s high school camp Monday were nowhere to be seen in the evening session, and TigerNet was on hand for the first three periods of the session.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s jump right in, and we are going to include nuggets from both the afternoon and evening sessions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Hester Earns USTFCCCA Regional Honor<\/a>\u2014 Clemsontigers.com<\/p>\n

CLEMSON, S.C. \u2014 Tevin Hester<\/a> was voted Men\u2019s Track Athlete of the Year for the Southeast Region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced Monday.<\/div>\n

Who will replace Jack Leggett?<\/em><\/p>\n

Andrew: Obviously, everyone would love to see Tim Corbin of Vanderbilt or Kevin O\u2019Sullivan of Florida, but those may not be tangible options. I\u2019m not saying they wouldn\u2019t leave their respective programs, but it would be a surprise to me if they did. I really like Randy Mazey of West Virginia or Jim Schlossnagle from TCU. If Clemson could score either of those or Monte Lee from College of Charleston, I believe they would have made a solid hire.<\/p>\n

Ty: Jeff Szefc, Maryland\u2019s head coach, is my choice as Clemson\u2019s new baseball coach. He led Maryland to the Super Regional before falling to UVA.Monte Lee, College of Charleston, is my dark horse pick. He has averaged about 40 wins over seven seasons and he would be able to continue recruiting this state but at a higher level.<\/p>\n

Tim Corbin, Vanderbilt, is my dream pick because of three reasons. First, he has Vandy entrenched as a top program in the SEC. Secondly, he was an assistant at Clemson so he knows the area and the program well. Lastly, he was a coach at my alma mater Presbyterian College and I know the guy can coach and players love him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n
