For the last three days, four-star offensive lineman John Simpson was the center of attention in Clemson.
\nThe rising senior from Fort Dorchester arrived for the Dabo Swinney Football Camp on Monday and hung around the campus for two more days.
\n\u201cIt was pretty good, I had a good time,\u201d Simpson told TheClemsonInsider, after he left on Wednesday afternoon.
\nListed by 247 as the No. 3 offensive guard in the class of 2016, Simpson said the best part of his experience was the work he got in with offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell.
\n\u201cHe knows about it. He\u2019s older, so he\u2019s been around the game for a while. I guess you can\u2019t go wrong with a coach that\u2019s older, more mature with the game,\u201d Simpson said.
\nSwinney let Simpson know that he was ready for him to jump on board with the Tigers\u2019 2016 class.
\n\u201cHe was kind of pressuring it a little bit,\u201d Simpson said. \u201cWe\u2019re getting to that point, I guess. (Swinney) was telling me how important I would be to the program and how much I fit in, stuff like that.\u201d
\nThe Clemson head coach wasn\u2019t the only one.
\n\u201cIt was pretty crazy, because even the fans were telling me, even the players that weren\u2019t there any more, but were working the camp, even they were telling me how good it would be to be a Tiger,\u201d Simpson said.
\nOn Friday, Simpson is scheduled to visit South Carolina. He\u2019s also planning summer trips to Georgia, LSU and Tennessee, but no dates have been scheduled.
\n\u201cI think it\u2019s going to be a while and do it after I get the visits in,\u201d Simpson said, when asked about a timetable for his commitment.
\nBefore visiting Clemson, Simpson camped at Alabama with his teammate, 2018 quarterback Dakereon Joyner.
\n\u201cIt was pretty good. I enjoyed myself,\u201d Simpson said.
\nHe added, \u201cI took a lot away from that, because coach (Mario) Cristobal, he\u2019s a good coach. I learned a lot of stuff from him.\u201d<\/p>\n
