Chandler Reeves had a pretty good feeling that he would receive the news a day after he was in Clemson for the Dabo Swinney Football Camp.
\nThe 2016 offensive tackle from Eagle\u2019s Landing Christian School (McDonough, Ga.) just wasn\u2019t sure about the verdict.
\n\u201cI talked to coach (Marion) Hobby yesterday after camp and he said that we\u2019ll go back and evaluate you with coach (Dabo) Swinney and we\u2019ll (let) you (know) the news,\u201d Reeves said, during an interview with TheClemsonInsider, after he was offered by the Tigers.
\nThe offer from Clemson joined several others, including Georgia Tech, USF, Cal and Syracuse.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s definitely a great feeling. I like the fact that it\u2019s close to home. It\u2019s one of my bigger offers that\u2019s close to home, besides Georgia Tech, which is kind of encouraging,\u201d Reeves said. \u201cI have a lot of offers from schools that are really far away and I would like to stay close to home.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s kind of a relief to have them offer me close to home. And, obviously, it\u2019s a great, great, successful program that I could help out.\u201d
\nTuesday\u2019s camp stop wasn\u2019t his first trip to Tigertown. Reeves watched Clemson host Virginia Tech in 2012 when his brother, Christian, was a redshirt freshman wide receiver for the Hokies.
\nSo now that he\u2019s been to a game in Death Valley and worked out with the Clemson staff at the practice facility, Reeves is ready to bring his parents back up for a visit this weekend.
\n\u201cI think the biggest thing for me about coach Dabo Swinney and his coaching staff is just the fact that they\u2019re one of the more faith-based coaching staffs in collegiate football,\u201d Reeves said. \u201cThat\u2019s a big deal for me and my family. The positive vibe you get when you walk in the door at Clemson, you feel like you\u2019re apart of something bigger. And everyone is a family there.
\n\u201cI believe Clemson has some of the best fans with the world. Everyone is just so on board with what coach Swinney\u2019s doing. Definitely, the faith part of it is a big deal to me.\u201d
\nIn addition to his return to Clemson, Reeves will visit Georgia Tech on Monday. He\u2019s also been invited to Clemson\u2019s annual All-In Cookout, which is set for July 25.
\n\u201c(Hobby) definitely wanted me to come up to that, to get a chance to hang out with some of the coaches and some team members now and things like that,\u201d Reeves said.
\nA decision will be made within the next couple of months.
\n\u201cI\u2019ll probably, definitely have a decision by the end of the summer, if not sooner,\u201d Reeves said. \u201cI\u2019m definitely not trying to stretch that all out. I just want to make sure I feel comfortable with the decision that I\u2019m making and then it will be made.\u201d<\/p>\n
