Tennessee pledge talks Clemson<\/p>\n
\t\tOn Sunday night, Clemson offered Tennessee cornerback commitment Marquill Osborne.
\nThe 2016 four-star from Hough High School in Cornelius, North Carolina spoke with TheClemsonInsider on Monday afternoon.
\n“I gave coach (Mike) Reed a ring and he told me himself,” Osborne said.
\nWhat did the Clemson defensive backs coach have to say?
\n“Just that it’s a process, because I was there in the summer and I didn’t get offered. And he said they were taking one DB. He said it’s a process — they were going through all the film…he just told me that I need to get down there for a visit.”
\nIn a perfect world, Osborne would have been offered by Clemson last summer.
\n“That was an offer I wanted to pick up when I went to camp,” Osborne said. “But I picked it up now, it’s always going to mean a lot. Clemson is a good school.”
\nPlus, Clemson has already locked up a pair of four-star defensive backs from Hough. Safety Van Smith, who enrolled in January, will be joined by cornerback Mark Fields later this summer.
\n“Mark and Van being there, that’s pretty good to have on the table,” Osborne said.
\nA return trip to Clemson is in the works, though nothing has been scheduled.
\n“I’m definitely going to take a visit, but I don’t know yet when,” Osborne said.
\nIn addition to Clemson and Tennessee, the school he’s been committed to since September, Florida will also receive heavy consideration.
\n“I really don’t know, I don’t know what it’s going to take,” Osborne said, when asked what could knock Tennessee off the top of his list.
\n“I’m definitely going to give them a chance.”
\nAs a junior, Osborne had 70 tackles, 21 pass breakups and two interceptions.
