CHARLOTTE – The consensus among those who cover recruiting is that Diondre Overton will end up at Clemson.
A four-star wide receiver out of Greensboro-Page (NC), Overton is also considering Tennessee, Michigan and others.
“It’s a competition between a lot of schools,” Overton said, during an interview with TheClemsonInsider, before The Opening-Charlotte.
“That’s just the most I’ve visited,” he said of Clemson.
Overton will hit the road next month and make several visits.
“I think in June I’m going to be going to Boston College. I’m definitely going to be in contact with more coaches. I’m going to more camps,” he said. “I’m going to the Clemson camp, the (North) Carolina camp, the N.C. State camp.
“Also, I’m going to set up more visits, so I’m just going to communicate with the coaches.”
Clemson, through co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Jeff Scott, keeps a steady line of communication.
“I talk to them on a daily basis,” Overton said. “They always (direct message) me, coach Scott. It’s just great talking to me. They really think I could be big to the offense.”
The 6-5, 195-pound prospect is the lone uncommitted wide receiver on Clemson’s 2016 wide receiver board.
“That means a lot to me,” Overton said. “That shows me that they really want me, that they’re really dedicated to me. They’ll give it all just for me. That’s a good thing to know.”
As a junior, Overton caught 62 passes for 1,187 yards and 11 touchdowns.
