TALLAHASSEE, FL — TCI takes a look back at Clemson’s (28-25, 14-13 ACC) 4-1 win over #8 Florida State (37-17, 17-11 ACC) on Thursday night at Dick Howser Stadium.

What happened?
The Seminoles struck first on a solo homer in the second inning. The Tigers tied the game in the fourth inning with a run on two hits as Reed Rohlman hit a one-out infield single and Chris Okey followed with a double in the left field gap. Clemson took the lead with another run in the fifth inning as Andrew Cox hit a one-out double off the wall in right, moved to third on Eli White’s infield single, and came in to score on Steven Duggar’s RBI single. The Tigers added a run to their lead in the sixth as Rohlman and Okey led off the frame with singles before Florida State threw away a sac bunt attempt to allow Rohlman to cross the plate. Clemson added an insurance run in the seventh as White drew a leadoff walk, Tyler Krieger walked with one out, and Rohlman hit a grounder to shortstop that was misplayed and allowed White to cross the plate giving the Tigers a 4-1 lead.
Game-Changing Moment:
The game changed in the sixth inning. With Clemson already holding a 2-1 advantage, the first two batters (Rohlman and Okey) each singled to start the inning. Robert Jolly laid down a sacrifice bunt that the Seminole catcher threw away, allowing Rohlman to come in to score and giving Matthew Crownover and Pat Krall all the run support they would need.
What went right?
Crownover and Krall combined to have an outstanding night on the mound as they did not allow a runner past first base after the second inning. Crownover allowed a single run on five hits with five strikeouts in 7.0 innings to pick up his 10th win of the season while Krall earned his third save of the season as he retired six of the seven batters he faced, including three strikeouts. Offensively, Rohlman and Okey each had two hits in Clemson’s eight hit attack while Duggar and Okey each had a RBI.
What went wrong?
The Tigers fell behind early, but quickly bounced back and scored in four straight innings during the middle part of the game. Clemson had a couple opportunities to score more runs, but stranded eight runners in the contest (including six in scoring position).
