The Tigers started out the series by taking a 4-1 win on Thursday behind some solid pitching from Matthew Crownover. Crownover pitched seven innings of one-run baseball, while also striking out five batters.

This just added to the Tigers’ momentum and led to an offensive explosion in Game Two, where Clemson outscored Florida State 7-0. Zach Erwin gave Clemson six strong innings of work, allowing no runs on an efficient 73 pitches. Clemson took Game Three on Saturday behind another strong starting pitching performance from Jake Long.

Long went six innings and gave up no runs, giving up only four hits and striking out three batters. Clemson gave up five runs in the ninth inning, but Pat Krall came in, once again to get the final out of the game and seal the sweep for the Tigers as Clemson held on to win 9-6.

Clemson was also led by some outstanding hitting from Freshman Reed Rohlman. Rohlman went 7-for-11 at the plate this weekend, with seven RBI, a home run, and also had three doubles in Game Three Saturday afternoon. Those three doubles tied a school-record as he continues to have a great Freshman season.
