Clemson Diving Recognized for Top 10 Percent APR Score

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson diving program was honored by the NCAA on Wednesday when it released its Academic Performance Public Recognition Awards. Head Coach Leslie Hasselbach Adams’ team ranks among the top 10 percent of all FBS programs nationally in terms of APR score (Academic Progress Rate). This is the first time the Tiger diving team has earned a top 10 percent ranking.

“Our program’s founding principle is ‘leading a lifestyle of excellence,’ and academic excellence is imperative in order for our ladies to fully support this mantra. I am elated for our ladies and our program to have established this tremendous legacy of excellence,” said Hasselbach Adams.

“Our ladies take their academics very seriously and our diving staff fully supports their efforts. I would especially like to thank our academic advisor, Ginty Porter, and the entire staff at Vickery Hall for supporting and encouraging our student-athletes throughout their academic careers. It takes a team effort to establish a high APR and I am thankful to all of our diving alumni for laying the foundation and leaving their legacy.”

Clemson was one of 29 women’s swimming and diving programs honored on Wednesday, and one of just three Atlantic Coast Conference programs, joining Miami and Notre Dame among the elite.

The Academic Progress Rate is a metric developed to track the academic achievement of teams each academic term. Each student-athlete receiving athletically related financial aid earns one retention point for staying in school and one eligibility point for being academically eligible. A team’s total points are divided by points possible and then multiplied by one thousand to equal the team’s Academic Progress Rate score.
