Clemson Baseball: Regional Information

As announced Monday at noon, the Clemson baseball team will be traveling to California for an opportunity to compete in the NCAA Tournament. Here is all the information you need to know.

The Clemson baseball team will be given a second chance at a season as they were announced as the last at-large team in the nation to get into the tournament. The Tigers now, just like the other 63 teams in the country, will have a fresh start with a chance to basically start over what has been an extremely disappointing season. With the invitation, Jack Leggett has now led the Clemson baseball program two 21 NCAA Tournament visits in 22 years as a coach.

The Tigers will be traveling to Cal State Fullerton, a grand total of 1,996 miles as the number-three seed in the four team region. Clemson will play number-two seed Arizona State on Friday at 6 p.m. in a two-game elimination tournament. The number-four seeded Pepperdine will play number-one Cal State Fullerton the same night. The Tigers will then play on Saturday and, hopefully, with some wins would play on Sunday for a chance to advance to a Super-Regional.

The winner of the Fullerton Regional will play a best-of-three series against the winner of the Louisville Regional. The four teams in that Regional are number-one seed Louisville, number-two Bradley, number-three Michigan, and number-four Morehead State.

Clemson enters regional play having won 8 of their last 11 games. That late season run is what put the Tigers in the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers are led by ACC pitcher of the year Matthew Crownover and, with him on the mound, they should have a great chance to win game one and find themselves in the Sunday Regional Championship game.

The Tigers will need the offense to come through and will have to play solid defense. If the Tigers can play complete baseball this weekend, they will have a chance to continue and advance through to the next round.
