Phil Steele released his preseason All-ACC Team and there were some major surprises as always, see what Clemson football players made the preseason All-ACC Team.
Phil Steele, the national college football analyst, announced his preseason All-ACC team yesterday and there were a few surprises. Three Clemson Tigers were named to the first team, while there were two named to the second team. There were three named to the third team and, finally, a total of four were named to the fourth team.
The Clemson defense did not have one starter or second string guy on the team. Shaq Lawson, Mackenzie Alexander, and Jayron Kearse each were named to the third team.
The Clemson offense holds eight spots on the team, including three starters. Artavis Scott, Mike Williams, and Isaiah Battle each were named to the first team by Phil Steele. Maybe the biggest surprise of the entire team was Georgia Tech quarterback Justin Thomas being named the starter over Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson, named to the second team, is expected to compete for a Heisman Trophy this season and it was a shock that the Clemson quarterback was not named the first team guy.
Also on the second team is running back Wayne Gallman. Gallman is behind Pittsburgh running back James Conner. The Tigers also have three players named to the fourth team on offense. Charone Peake, Jordan Leggett, and Ryan Norton were each named to Phil Steele’s fourth team on offense.
The lone special teams player is punter Andy Teasdall, who was named the fourth team punter on the preseason All-ACC list.
