Let’s take a look at Jamie Skalski, the linebacker prospect out of Newnan, Georgia.
The Clemson Tiger Class of 2016 already has a total of eight commits as we hit the month of June. There are still several prospects in the nation that Coach Swinney and his staff will attempt to get pledges from in the upcoming months as they begin their senior season of football. Over the rest of the summer, however, we are going to take a look at these eight men and what they could do when they arrive on campus next fall. Today, we will take a look at the linebacker prospect out of Newnam, Georgia.
Skalski is listed as a three-star prospect by most services, but is certainly capable of being diamond in the rough, so to speak. He is listed as a 225 pound outside linebacker and could grow into a solid player after a few years in the system and could be a valuable addition on special teams even as a freshman. He is a head-hunter, which is needed to be a linebacker at the college level. His tackling form is superb and he does a great job with his angling to get to the runner.
He plays both middle linebacker and outside linebacker, but if you put him alongside a Ben Boulware and some of the other talented players here in the Clemson program, he would match up better as an outside linebacker, especially with his speed. He runs a 4.47 forty-time, which is a great time for a linebacker.
Overall, a great prospect for Coach Swinney and his staff to have, definitely underrated and could be a guy that proves to be way better than his star-rating implies.
