Hester Earns USTFCCCA Regional Honor

CLEMSON, S.C. — Tevin Hester was voted Men’s Track Athlete of the Year for the Southeast Region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced Monday.

Hester won ACC Championships in the 100 and 200 this outdoor season, the first Tiger to accomplish the sprint double since Dwight Thomas in 2002. Hester also qualified for this week’s NCAA Outdoor Championships in both events. He set the ACC Outdoor Championships meet record in the 200, running a lifetime best 20.18. He also posted an all-conditions Clemson record in the 100 with a time of 9.87, wind-aided by merely 0.1 meters per second.

Hester was named the ACC Outdoor Most Valuable Track Athlete after amassing 20 individual points and helping the 4×100 relay to a runner-up finish. The Tigers made a seven-spot jump as a team to fourth in the ACC standings, and enter the NCAA meet with a No. 21 national ranking.
