Death Valley Ranked in Top-10 in College Football Stadiums

Memorial Stadium, better known as Death Valley, was ranked in the top-10 for College Football Stadiums in 2015.

Clemson’s Memorial Stadium, better known as Death Valley, was ranked number-eight in Bleacher Report’s Power Rankings for the top-25 College Football Stadiums from around the nation in 2015 earlier last week.

If you have ever been to Clemson, South Carolina on a Saturday during the fall, you know just how special and sacred of a place Death Valley is to the sea of orange that file in, 80,000 strong, the stadium. Nothing beats spending an afternoon or night in Death Valley cheering the Clemson football team to a victory.

Here is what Bleacher Report had to say about Death Valley:

Memorial Stadium:

Location: Clemson, South Carolina

Opened in: 1942

Capacity: 81,500

Clemson isn’t the only college that has a football stadium that can hold more people than reside in the town it’s located in. But it stands alone when it comes to the ability to house its entire community in just one section of the venue.

Less than 14,000 people live in Clemson, South Carolina, but that doesn’t stop the Tigers from packing Memorial Stadium on most Saturdays in the fall. And they’re all on their feet to cheer on the home team as they make one of the best entrances in college football, running down a hill on the east side of the stadium.

Along the way they pass Howard’s Rock, which was installed at the top of the hill in 1966.

The stadiums ranked ahead of Clemson were:

7. Ohio Stadium, Ohio State Buckeyes

6. Sanford Stadium, Georgia Bulldogs

5. Michigan Stadium, Michigan Wolverines

4. Notre Dame Stadium, Notre Dame Fighting Irish

3. Autzen Stadium, Oregon Ducks

2. Tiger Stadium, LSU Tigers

1. Rose Bowl, UCLA
