The Clemson baseball team will conclude ACC Tournament Pool A play with a match up against the North Carolina Tar Heels. Here is all you need to know for the game today.
The Clemson Tigers were eliminated from ACC Title contention after Florida State defeated North Carolina last night, but the Tigers still have a lot to play for here on Friday. Clemson will have the chance to go 2-1 in the ACC Tournament and, with a victory over the number-three nationally ranked Louisville Cardinals, contend for a spot as an at-large team in the NCAA Tournament.
The winner of this game, most likely, punches their ticket to the NCAA Tournament. North Carolina is a top-30 RPI team and if the Tigers beat them, it would almost guarantee a spot in the big dance and, should the Tigers lose, they will not fall too far back. However, if Clemson were to lose today, they would need several other teams to lose to stay in the discussion.
Basically, Clemson is in a “if you win, you’re in and if you lose, we will wait and see” situation. This match up, even if it does not have any affect on the ACC Championship Game, may be the most important game of the season for each team as it just may decide their postseason fate.
KEYS TO VICTORY:
1. Keep the bats going
2. Take the Tar Heels out of the game early
3. No Errors
