The Tigers (28-25 overall, 13-13 ACC) enter the final series of the regular season against the eighth ranked Seminoles (37-16 overall, 17-10 ACC) looking to clinch a spot in the ACC tournament to continue to keep their slim chances alive at making the NCAA Tournament
The Tigers face a tough challenge at what most Clemson fans consider to be Clemson’s no. 2 most hated rival behind USCjr. Both squads are led by long time head coaches Jack Leggett, who has been in charge of the Clemson baseball program since 1994, and Mike Martin, who has led the FSU baseball program since 1980. FSU currently holds the all-time record at 70-60-1. FSU also holds a 37-16-1 record all time in Tallahassee. Clemson currently has a 22-30 overall record vs the Seminoles during Jack Leggett’s tenure.
The series will start on Thursday with the pitching matchup being between Clemson’s Matthew Crownover and FSU’s Boomer Biegalski. Friday’s matchup will pit Zack Erwin against FSU’s Mike Compton. The series will conclude on Saturday between Clemson’s Jake Long and FSU’s Drew Carlton.
FSU’s offense is led by DJ Stewart who is currently hitting .327 with 12 homers and 47 RBI’s. Clemson’s offense is coming off a 23 run onslaught against Furman and is led by Chris Okey and Tyler Krieger.
