CHARLOTTE – Greensboro-Dudley sophomore quarterback Hendon Hooker will receive consideration as one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the class of 2017.
Last season, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect completed 67 of 108 passes for 1,141 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also rushed 79 times for 522 yards with six scores.
Hooker, who claims offers from Clemson and Syracuse, lists the Tigers as his favorite.
“I don’t know what it is. I just really enjoy Clemson,” he told TheClemsonInsider, after The Opening-Charlotte.
“I have some family members that go there and a teammate who played with me my freshman year who’s already there, Chris Register.”
Hooker spent time with Register last week when he was back home in Greensboro.
“I got to work out with him and we talked about different things that Clemson brings to the table,” Hooker said.
Clemson offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell serves as his primary recruiter for the Tigers.
“Me and him just have a personal relationship…he came and saw my basketball game, so it’s a pretty personal relationship,” Hooker said.
This summer, he’ll camp at Clemson, Alabama, UNC, Georgia and Florida State.
“I’ve visited Auburn, Tennessee, Florida State, Georgia, UNC and Duke,” Hooker said.
