Clemson Women’s Golf Honored for Top 10 Percent APR Score

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s golf program was honored by the NCAA on Wednesday when it released its Academic Performance Public Recognition Awards. Head Coach J.T. Horton’s team ranks among the top 10 percent of all FBS programs nationally in terms of APR score (Academic Progress Rate).

“We are very grateful for this recognition,” said Horton. “This is a direct reflection of the hard work of our young ladies and our academic advisor in Vickery Hall, Leslie Moreland. Our ladies are committed to being the best they possibly can be, both on and off the course. This team is very fortunate to be surrounded by an amazing support staff that is focused on helping our student-athletes achieve success and continue their progress towards graduating with a degree from Clemson University.”

This is the first time the Tiger women’s golf program, which recently concluded its second year of competition as a varsity team, has earned a top 10 percent ranking. Clemson was one of 10 women’s golf programs from the Atlantic Coast Conference honored for its APR score on Wednesday.

The Academic Progress Rate is a metric developed to track the academic achievement of teams each academic term. Each student-athlete receiving athletically related financial aid earns one retention point for staying in school and one eligibility point for being academically eligible. A team’s total points are divided by points possible and then multiplied by one thousand to equal the team’s Academic Progress Rate score.
