News, however, does not stop for the weekend, so we will be working hard to give you updates on Clemson athletics the entire weekend and Memorial Day as it develops for Tiger football, basketball, and baseball.

Today, we explore former Tiger quarterback Tajh Boyd and his path to becoming an NFL quarterback, as well as a recap of yesterday’s thrashing of the Louisville Cardinals. With the win, the Tigers move one step closer to an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament.

Finally, some news on the Clemson football team, who finished with a Top-10 nationally ranked Academic Performance Rating for another year.

Can Tajh Boyd play in the NFL? — Andrew Boardwine, RTR

During his time at Clemson, Boyd was considered one of the best to ever come through the football program. In his three years as a starter, he threw for over 3,800 yards each season and 30-plus touchdowns, as well. He led Clemson to a total of 32 wins over those three seasons, including wins over LSU in Chick-fila Bowl and Ohio State in the Orange Bowl.

Tigers Top No. 3 Cardinals 7-2 — Brian Hennessy, Clemson Athletic Communications

DURHAM, N.C. – Clemson scored five runs in the first two innings and Zack Erwin struck out 11 batters in the Tigers’ 7-2 victory over No. 3 Louisville in the ACC Tournament at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Thursday. The Tigers, who upped their record to 1-1 in the tournament, improved to 32-26 on the season. The Cardinals, who fell to 1-1 in the tourney, dropped to 43-15 in 2015.

Reed Rohlman started the scoring with a two-run single in the first inning and Robert Jolly added a run-scoring single. After Louisville scored a run in the top of the second inning, Steven Duggar’s sacrifice fly and Tyler Krieger’s run-scoring single in the bottom of the second inning gave Clemson a 5-1 lead. Weston Wilson added a two-run double in the fifth inning.

Clemson Football APR Among Top 10 for 5th Straight Year — Clemson Athletic Communications

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson football program was honored Wednesday when the NCAA released its Academic Performance Public Recognition Awards. Dabo Swinney’s Tigers rank among the top 10 percent of all FBS programs nationally in APR score (Academic Progress Rate), the fifth-consecutive year the program has had a top 10 percent ranking. Clemson’s women’s golf and diving programs joined football this year among the top 10 percent of their sports.
